Who Am I

My name is Leonardo Crahay Bloklander (21), but I also go by Leonardo CB. I am a young filmmaker from Hilversum, the Netherlands. Recently, I came across an old photo of myself when I was about 6 years old, holding a video camera for the first time. My father mentioned that he had never seen me so focused on a single task before.

After high school, I didn’t know what I wanted to become until I discovered my passion for filmmaking during my studies at ROCvA. I pursued a 3-year program in AV-Specialist, and in my final year, I established Leonardo Film.

During my time at the MBO, I had the opportunity to participate in two six-month internships. The first one was at “Videocompany.nl”, a production company renowned for offering a wide range of audiovisual services, from individual audio recordings to full-fledged short films. It was there that I discovered my true passion within the audiovisual realm: cinematography. With this newfound passion, I embarked on a search for an internship where I could challenge myself and further develop my skills.

And thus, my second internship took place at “De Beeldfabriek Films,” a small business specializing in documentary filmmaking. After getting acquainted with Floris Meinardi, the person in charge of operations, it didn’t take long for him to appoint me as the main cameraman. During my time there, I worked on two documentaries and the number continues to grow. When my internship came to an end, Floris and I agreed to continue working together as a well-coordinated team.
